Thank you for your interest in Community Choice Aggregation. If you do not find the answer to your question below, please visit our Contact Us page and a member of our team will reach out to you shortly.
What if I already purchase from a third-party supplier?
If you are already under a contract with a third party supplier, no changes will be made to your power service and no response is necessary. You may decide to opt in to the program but your community choice program is not responsible for any penalties/fees/charges that result from your existing supplier, so read your current contract carefully before opting in.
How do I opt-out/in?
If you are on standard offer service with the utility and you do not wish to participate in the community choice program, simply fill out the opt out card provided to you in the mail and send it back via the return envelope (also provided) within the 30 day time frame. Alternatively, you can call the supplier directly and opt out with a customer service representative by providing your name, account number and address. You may Opt In via the same mechanisms if you are already on third party supply and wish to participate.
Opting-out can also be done by filling out the form here.
Opting-in can also be done by filling out the form here.
Is this a contract? Is there an Early Termination Fee?
This is a contract, but there are no Early Termination Fees. You may exit the Community Choice program at any time, for any reason.
Can I join later, after my supply contract ends?
Potentially, depending on the terms and conditions of the Community Choice program negotiated by your community with the supplier.
How does Community Choice Aggregation work?
If you are on standard offer service with the utility and your community enters into a community choice program, you will be mailed an offer to your physical address. You will have 30 days to respond that you would like to opt out, otherwise you will be automatically enrolled in the community choice program, which essentially acts as an alternative default service providing competitive pricing and potential for an increased source of renewable generation. Your community rate will still appear on your monthly utility power bill and you continue to pay the utility as you typically would.
How do I get notified when this is available?
Your community choice program supplier will notify you via regular mail when the program becomes available, you can also sign up for alerts via the www.communitychoicenh.com website.
Do I know the rate before opting-out/in?
Yes, by statute you will be notified of all rate offerings 30 days before any action is taken place with your account.
What happens if I opt-out?
If you decide to opt out your power account will simply remain on the default service with your local power utility company.
Who do I call about a power outage or a meter problem?
If you are experiencing a power outage or a problem with your meter, please call your local utility.
Eversource: 800-662-7764
Liberty: 800-375-7413
Unitil: 888-301-7700
New Hampshire Co-op: 800-698-2007
Will I receive 1 electricity bill or 2?
Depending on the electricity supplier chosen for your CCA, you will either receive one bill from your local utility that includes both the electricity delivery and supply charges or you will receive two bills, one from your local utility with your delivery charges on it and the other being from the selected supplier with your supply charges on it.
What if I’m in a net metering agreement?
Individuals in net metering agreements who are enrolled in a third-party electricity supplier agreement are not eligible for credits on the Default Energy Service portion of their bill.
What if I am on the Electricity Assistance Program (EAP)?
Your EAP benefits will continue to cover the delivery portion of your electricity bill but they will not cover the supply portion of your bill. If the savings are better with your EAP benefits then it is in your best interest to opt-out of your city/towns CCA program.
